Passed away on January 13, 2018 at age 74.
Son of Ventura and Rosa Rivera.
Survived by siblings, Zoraida Rivera, Rosa Rivera, Orlando Rivera, William Rivera, Hector Rivera, Heriberto Rivera, Enid De Jesus and predeceased Sylvia Serrano. Many nieces, nephews
family and friends.
Jose loved to spread his love and cheer through arts and crafts, spending countless hours personalizing many paintings and ceramics. Thank you because we will always have a piece of you.
He was known for his dedication, bravery, compassion and independence. Fighting
a long battle with cancer he never gave up and fought till the very end. You
will always be near to our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Family will receive friends 4 - 8pm Thursday January 18, 2018 at New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. His Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady The Americas Church, 864 E. Main St. Rochester NY 14605 on Friday January 19, 2018 at 10 am. Interment at Riverside Cemetery. Celebration of life gathering will be held immediately after burial service at VFW Post 300 Macedon Center Rd. Fairport NY 14450.
His family would like to give special thanks to St. John's Home, Reservoir 3rd Floor staff for their
amazing love, caring and support till his last breath. Maria, Keyonna, Marie,
Lisa, Angie, and Linda your devotion to Jose's care will always be remembered thank you
for treating us like family. As well as the care provided from all of the
volunteers of the Veterans Association especially Ron Trovato. You ALL went above
and beyond.
