Steven James Powell

Steven J. Powell of Greece, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29th, 2022 at age 72. Steven was predeceased by his parents, Lyal and Helen Powell, of Austin, Minnesota. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, of 46 years and his children, Jeffrey (Mary) Powell, Timothy (Jennifer) Powell, and Jenna (Chris) Kinter, ten grandchildren, sister, Kathy (Al) Chepelnik, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-laws, and several nieces and nephews.

Steven earned a chemical engineering degree from the University of Minnesota and was employed at Kodak for 35 years. He loved the great outdoors including fishing, hunting, hiking, and gardening. He also loved to travel to see his children and grandchildren throughout the year.

Steven was a member of Northridge Church and served faithfully throughout the years as a Sunday school teacher for adults and junior high, an AWANA leader and commander, a mentor, a member of the stewardship committee, and was involved in many church projects. Steve will be remembered for his strong faith, loving care of his family, and a loving kind friend to so many people with his quiet but friendly demeanor and his dry sense of humor.

Steven will be buried at the Irondequoit Cemetery. The memorial service is open to the public, and will be held at Northridge Church on Friday, October 14th, at 2:00 pm, with an open visitation prior to the service at 1:00 pm. Northridge Church is located at 2052 St. Paul St, Rochester, NY 14621. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ALS Association Upstate New York Chapter.
