Passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at the age of 73.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Diane (Helfer) Klafehn & parents, George & Shirley.
He was survived by his dog, Stewie; children Matthew (Stephanie) & Meghan (Olando) Hanson; grandchildren, Henry Hanson, Sammy Hanson, Harper, Jackson, Charlotte Pike & Lillian Pike; sister, Kristen (Walt) Kaminski; stepdaughters Casey Hopkins & Julia (Chad Pike) Hopkins; cousins, & many, many friends.
John had many hobbies & talents. He was a gifted musician, serving as a frontman, harmonica player, vocalist, & saxophone player, performing a mix of blues, jazz, & rock music. He played with several bands throughout Western NY over the past 50+ years, to include the St. James Band & The Pack. John was also a winemaker & a great cook, which brought joy to many. He was a self-taught mechanic, having won numerous car shows & competitions for his work, especially with his '69 Camaro & with the Go Karts he raced in his earlier years. John enjoyed life to its fullest.
"Bleed" was a member of the Local IBEW 86, where he was an electrician. Before that, he was at RG&E for over 20 years serving the Rochester area. He has been a treasured father & grandfather, brother, & friend to many & will be missed beyond belief.
Services will be held on Wednesday December 13, 12pm at Riverside Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at 1pm at the Charlotte Social Club.
