Rochester: Passed peacefully, surrounded by loving family and went to be with the Lord, September 26, 2009, at age 82. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Beverly (Hall); sons, Skip (Pat), Ken (Mary) and Gary (Cherie); grandchildren, Jason (Jessica), Jeff (Alexis), Ryan, Samantha, Jonathan (Melissa), Patrick, Kevin, Katie; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Streber; sisters, Shirley Spaulding (George Smith), Barbara Woodard; in-laws, Ken (Ginny) and Howard (Pat) Hall, Karen (Gary) Hobson; many nieces, nephews and special friends. Al was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Chili, and devoted his life to helping everyone he knew.
He was especially grateful for the loving care he received from his caregivers throughout his battle with cancer.
Family and friends may attend calling hours Monday (Today), 4-8 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. A Celebration of Al's life will be held Tuesday, 11 AM at the First Baptist Church in Chili, 3182 Chili Ave., Rochester, NY 14624. Interment, Grove Place Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Church.
