Alexander Ronald Mevs, 29, of Tomball, TX passed away suddenly on January 27, 2022 in Austin, TX . He was born on September 29, 1992, in Houston, TX to Philip and Tracy Mevs. He attended Tomball High School and graduated from the University of Houston with a BA in Sports Administration, minoring in Communications. He had an infectious smile, a generous heart, a kind and compassionate soul and a boundless spirit that will be sincerely missed. He loved a good laugh, good conversation, and a good game. Alex was a light in the lives of many, and for many, that light has dimmed. He illuminated every room and person he encountered, and the impression he made is unforgettable. His light and spirit will never fade.
To know Alex was to love him. He didn't have a hateful bone in his body and believed there was good in everyone. When he was young, our house was filled with laughter and goodwill, having fun with his sister and friends. His parents taught him to be open-minded and generous and he grew up to be just that. He was an avid sports enthusiast, more of an analyst than an admirer. He was drawn to the gridiron where he established life-long connections, and was fascinated in the art and science of football. No surprise that he excelled in the classroom and was adored by his classmates and teachers, known to everyone as a genuinely good guy.. He was polite and soft-spoken and always had a smile on his face. Alex never held a grudge and always reached across the aisle, always compromising.
He was honored to obtain an internship with the Rice University football organization, during his senior year of college. His dream was to be a sports analyst. He continued his career in the field and went on to work for the XFL Houston Roughnecks in 2019 and 2020, until Covid shut the league down. He last worked at Westlake Athletic Center in Austin, where he coached youth sports and managed the athletic center. No matter what the challenge or request, Alex gave his all for himself - and for the love of the game.
Alex is survived by his parents, Philip and Tracy Mevs, his sister Christina Mevs, his grandfather Armel Mevs, his Great Uncle Ralph Tony Perri, Great Aunt Barbara Cacciatore,Uncles Ronald V. Perri(Pam) Mike J. Perri, Ralph (Rachel) Perri, Donald Mevs, his Aunt Judith Lyons (Kevin) and countless cousins and close friends.
Alex leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends. Beloved by everyone who ever met him. "A joy to be around, even for a moment," was what most people said about meeting Alex.
His life was cut tragically short, nevertheless, Alexander made a profound impact on the communities he thrived in, those he loved, and those who loved him. Although he did not reach the potential that he so dearly deserved. Alex is now at peace, hopefully laughing with his relatives in Heaven. We love you sweet boy.
