Ambalavanar Kathirgamasundaram was an extraordinary man who cared deeply about his family and friends. He peacefully passed away on Thursday April 28th, 2022 surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born in Port Dickson, Malaysia and grew up in Point Pedro, Sri Lanka. He has lived in Rochester, NY for the last 40 years.
Ambalavanar is married to his wife Rajeswary Kathirgamasundaram for 65 years and is survived by her.
He has three children: Saraswathy Thirumavalavan, Sooriakumar Kathirgamasundaram, and Rajkumar Kathirgamasundaram.
He has two daughters in laws and one son in law: Ananthy Sooriakumar, Shanthi Rajkumar, Thirumavalavan Bala.
He has one sister and brother: Parameswary Pathmanathan and Ambalavanar Somaskanda.
He has a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Shanthi Somaskanda and Pathmanathan Kandiah.
He has six grandchildren: Karikalan Thirumavalavan, Sempian Sooriakumar, Kovalan Thirumavalavan, Solan Sooriakumar, Karnan Rajkumar, and Kavitha Rajkumar.
He has nieces and nephews: Bamini Pathmanathan, Dharmini Pathmanathan, Ramanan Somaskanda, Abhirami Somaskanda, Sumangali Somaskanda.
Family will receive guests, Sunday, May 1st, 2022 from 11-1pm where a service will follow at 1pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals at 2636 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, NY 14626.
