Rochester, NY

Andre Holloman (Dre/Shah) was born May 14, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York. He is the second and youngest son of Ella Holloman, also of Brooklyn. Andre was raised in Farragut Houses where he made lifelong friends. He was educated in the public schools of New York City. Before completing high school in 1984, Andre took courses in the culinary arts. During the summer and after high school Andre worked at NYC Housing Authority where he performed maintenance duties before being promoted to a boilerman/fireman position. He was good at what he did and particular about cleanliness to the point his family nicknamed him “Housing.” He stayed with NYCHA until retiring on disability. After retirement he moved to Salisbury, MD for a while before his final relocation to Rochester, NY.
Dre was widely known, hardworking, outspoken, uncompromising, loyal, and down to earth. He was compassionate toward others’ suffering and would never deliberately hurt anyone. Yet, Shah was no push over; if you went too far with him you would soon find out you crossed the line. He was a sharp dresser with a swagger and a big smile who was ready to have a good time. His friends loved to see him coming. Dre was sociable and enjoyed getting around, but most enjoyed being in his clean house with his bills paid. He had several hobbies such as collecting sneakers and hats, playing video games, and fishing. Andre also loved to take cruises.
In 2021 he met his wife Stephanie Andrews (of Syracuse). Andre was a man who LOVED his family. He kept in touch and helped if he could. When it came to his people he was “ten toes down!”
He is predeceased by his younger sister, Danielle Holloman McRae and his great-aunt Rosetta Raglund.
He leaves behind: (wife) Stephanie Andrews; (mother) Ella Holloman; seven children- Mone Hudson (Kari D. Thomas), Melliesha Fields, Kaia Holloman, Shakora Fields, Jayquial Fields, Truequon Gillard, and Raheim Gillard Sr.; eight grandchildren- Danari’i Fields, Jaden Ganzy, Jamar Long, Raheim Gillard Jr., Ja-ziah Fields, Milani Bailey, Kairah-Mae Cherelle Thomas, and Messiah Gillard; (uncle) George Bell; (brother) Frank L. Holloman (Stephanie Dunlap); (niece) Tajia Holloman; (nephew) Jadon Holloman; (niece) Anique Holloman; and (niece) Charleigh Rawles (Rolonzo); two great nieces (Analisa and Katherine); and two great-nephews (Kaiwan and Rolonzo). Andre also leaves extended family, god brothers and god sisters, friends, and co-workers to mourn his passing.
On the morning of June 21, 2024, at the age of 58, Andre answered his savior’s call to come home and find rest. We, his family, are saddened by his departure, yet gladdened for his victory. We are thankful for the time we had and know we will see him again in God’s timing and plan.
In the words of Andre, “Peace, one love!”
