Barbara Lynne Williams passed away suddenly on March 12, 2022 in Fairport, NY at the age of 60. She is predeceased by her father, Robert Williams, and her mother, Dorothy Williams.
She is survived by her loving sister, Patti, lifelong friend and sister of her heart, Linda Wahlen, her WLIR Group family, and a multitude of friends across the globe who will all miss her terribly.
Barbara was born and lived most of her life on Long Island, and although she had lived in the Rochester, NY area for the last several years, she always considered herself very much a New Yorker. If there was a single word to describe Barbara, it would be 'fierce'. Barbara was fierce in love, fierce in disagreement, fierce in advocacy, and fierce in defense of others. She had no tolerance for dishonesty or injustice, and never hesitated to step in and fight to correct something she viewed to be wrong. Anyone who knew her at all recognized that her caustic (and hilarious) wit covered for a heart that was as big as the ocean, and as soft as silk. The important point was that; If Barbara considered you a friend, you could have no stronger supporter in times of difficulty. This was a recurring theme throughout her life, but was certainly most evident as she took on the role of primary advocate with our mother's caregivers. Barbara's passing is a devastating shock to all of us, and leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all who loved her.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public viewing/calling hours. A memorial service/celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date, and will be designed so as to include as many of her friends as possible. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to the
National Fibromyalgia Association in Barbara's memory.
