Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Emmy Buckert. Children, Brad (Lisa) Buckert, Cheryl (Earl) Engels, Gary (Sandy) Buckert, Mark (Jackie) Harris. Grandchildren, Matt (Torrie), Jon, Krista, Brianne (Casey), Jessie, Zach, Kaitie, Tyler. Great grandchildren, Jameson, Emersyn, Addisyn, Violet. Brother, Robert (Barb).
Many nieces and nephews. Mother-in-law, Connie Mroczek. His furry friend, Tanzi. & His friends whom he played cards with at the landing.
Bud loved to talk about and watch sports. Watching him open and sort packs of sports cards was like watching a child with a new toy. Brad and Bud would do sport card shows together and Bud would spend hours talking with the people who stopped at their table. When he could, Bud would watch his great grandson play baseball. Bud enjoyed fishing with Gary, their frequent lunches at Swan Market and watching MSU basketball.... Go Green!!
When the sun was shining you would find Bud outside on the porch, even in 40 degree weather, getting some "rays" on his face. He and Emmy loved to travel with Aruba being one of their favorite destinations. During the day he liked to ride along with the resort employees transferring guests here and there, while at night he could be found at his favorite slot machine in the casino hoping to hit it big. Bud loved to play cards with his friends at Mill Landing and board games with his grandchildren. Sequence anyone?
If you really knew Bud, the word "thrifty" may come to mind. Wheeling and dealing his entire life, always asking for a better deal and usually walking away with it, influencing the younger generations to speak up and not settle. Annually at Mark's garage sale, Bud would spend hours making sure the house was getting the best deal. Bud will be smiling down with pride as Mark continues the wheeling and dealing tactics he instilled in him.
Family celebrations always had a bounty of food which Bud enjoyed sampling. The Thanksgiving turkey not completely carved, but Bud would be seen picking at the skin and dark meat. The cookouts where he loved to grill and turn the burgers into hockey pucks, but we still ate them. Our childhood meals of sloppy joe's and Amiel subs, along with some of Bud's favorites throughout the years - Cheryl's macaroni salad, deviled eggs and chicken wing dip - the memories are sure to make us smile. There will be one plate, one fork and one napkin set out for him at each celebration for years to come.
No prior calling hours.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Clubhouse of Mill Landing, Greece, NY Sunday March 17, 2024 at a time to be announced.
