She grew up in Seabreeze, attended St. Salome's, Ben Franklin, and graduated from Brockport State Teachers College. She married Dutch (her husband of 52 years) during WWll, and after his active duty overseas, traveled to several places around the US while he was assigned to different military bases to complete his enlistment including Dayton OH, and San Antonio TX. They returned home to live and raise a family in the house that Dutch built where she remained for nearly 60 years. As her family grew she took part-time and substitute teaching jobs mostly for the Greece Central School District into the1960's. She remained close with many of her fellow teachers, and former students throughout her life. She organized annual reunion lunches for her Brockport class of 1942.
A devout Catholic, and devoted parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo, she served on Parish Council, and organized an annual women's retreat for many years. She formed enduring bonds of friendship with those whose lives she touched which lasted throughout the decades of her long life, right up to her last days. She was a very humble woman enjoying the simple pleasures, but at the same time very proud of her family and her accomplishments. She enjoyed playing the piano, family vacations (especially the Adirondacks), swimming, crossword puzzles, and doing her "correspondence" including her annual Christmas letter.
The family is especially grateful to the skillful and caring staff at the Brightonian.
