Rochester- Bodo L. "Bo" Kretschman, 84, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 23, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Bo was born in Marienburg, Germany on November 11, 1935 to the late Albert and Hildegard Kretschmann. In 1947, after the war Bo and his mother and brother, Jerry Kretschman, moved to the US, ultimately settling in Columbus, OH. Bo served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1960-1965. In 1963 Bo married the love of his life, Kay. They were married for 56 years and together they raised four children. After his service, he began his career as a draftsman. He worked for many companies over the years, and he retired from Ameritherm Co. when he turned 65. In his retirement he enjoyed golf, gardening, car shows, and working with his hands. His passion in life was his family.
Bo is predeceased in 2019 by his uncle, Werner Kretschmann.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kay, his children, Tracy (Mark) Schumacher, Kurt (Wendy) Kretschman, Eric (Annie) Kretschman, and Amy (Amedeo) Cristillo, his grandchildren, Kristen(Hector) Romero, Cole Kretschman, Skye Schumacher, Dakota Kretschman, Kelsea Cristillo, Gunnar Schumacher, Kaitlyn (Travis Kelley)Kretschman, and Cesare Cristillo, his three great-grandchildren, Eliana, Jaelyn, and Carter, his brother, Jerry (Arlyce) Kretschman, his beloved dog, Schultzie, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd., Rochester, NY 14609, on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. James Church, Brett Road, Irondequoit, NY 14609, on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:00am. Burial will be held at White Haven Memorial Park.
