Rochester, NY – Brian Daniel McMahon, 59, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2020.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Jean and Louis McMahon, brothers Mike and Jim McMahon and aunt Carolyn "Tut" (Hank) Waggett.
Brian was born on August 8, 1961 and lived in Greece, NY for the early part of his life. Brian was the youngest of six children born to Jean and Louis. He is survived by sister Mary "Mimi" and brother in-law, Michael Maiuri, Kathleen (Rick) Metzger and brother Louis Martin "Marty" (Sylvia) McMahon, and sister in-law Luanne McMahon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews, who remember him lovingly as "Uncle Bri". He is also survived by cousins, Carla (Becky) Marshall-Waggett and Patrick Waggett.
Brian's most proud accomplishment was his children. He and Amy (Rob) Aguglia, share 2 remarkable children, Liam and Emma McMahon. They were his pride and joy and his love for them was definitely known by anyone who ever spent any time with him. Amy, Liam and Emma will miss him terribly, but know that he is at peace.
Brian was a friend of Bill. He never pretended to anyone that he didn't struggle with his disease of alcoholism for most of his adult life. He had many successful times where his sobriety was longer lasting, and he also had heart breaking struggles, but he never gave up. The memory of Brian and his life will not be defined by his alcoholism. Brian was much more to all that loved and cared about him. Brian was a kind, friendly and gentle man. He was a good friend with a big heart. If you knew him, you would probably remember laughing with him and how easily he would start up a conversation or what a good listener he was. We are all better for knowing him and having him in our lives.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 10AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 Ridge Road West – enter church via Duxbury Road.
Please join us in a celebration of Brian's life on Sunday, September 13th from 1PM – 5PM at the Pavilion Lodge, Ellison Park. The lodge has covered outdoor area and indoor area where social distancing can be practiced. The family would be honored to have all his friends attend.
