Ms. Catherine Tyner was born on April 3, 1942 in Marvin, Alabama to the the late Albert and Charlie Mae Williams. She was raised in Opelika, Alabama.
Catherine was first baptized at Rising Star Baptist Church, where she also attended school. In the late 1960's Catherine left Opelika to come to Albion, New York eventually relocating to Rochester, New York.
She was employed at various companies and last worked at St. John Fisher College for nearly 20 years from where she retired in 2008.
Catherine became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1999. She was a faithful and dedicated member serving on the kitchen committee until her health began to fail.
Catherine was a family oriented person. She built a beautiful legacy with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always a loyal friend and companion and opened her heart to all because she felt everyone deserved love.
She as an awesome cook and loved to cook for her family, friends and her church. She loved to travel and would quite often visit family in the south. She genuinely loved people and was considered a "second Mom" to many of her children's friends. Her generous spirit and nature affected many people and their lives. Catherine had a very close and loving relationship with her siblings, especially Ida Mae and Jim.
Catherine is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Charlie Mae Williams, brother Albert Williams, Jr, sisters: Mary Albert Tolbert, Josephine Jones and Ronella Green.
Called home to be with God on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, she leaves to cherish her memories: Her significant other, Ullman (Becky) Barclay. Her children: Robert Tyner III, Deborah Milton, Charles G. Sisson, William D. Hunt and special daughters: Faith (Missy) Hart, Dana McCloud and Dorethea Jackson-Smith. Grandchildren: Shanita L. (Kendrell) Brooks; Ashley Johnson, Tyesha A. Sisson; Charlies Sisson, Jr., Justyce A. Sisson and William D. Hunt, Jr. Great-grandchildren: Darnell Russell, Jr., Daimonique Singleton, Kenneth Brooks, Kendrell, Brooks, Jr., Knolla Miller and Elexiana Sisson. Her brothers: Jim Williams and Lorenzo Williams. Her sisters: Ida Mae Sweptson, Ada Mae Payne and Alma Rene Thomas, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
