Suddenly, Saturday June 3, 2023
Catherine (Katie) Yaeger, 31, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, after losing her ongoing battle with addiction. She was born on August 4, 1991, in Rochester, NY. Katie was a 2009 graduate of Arcadia High School in Greece, NY. Katie lived in Rochester, NY most of her life, and moved to Florida in 2019.
Many knew Katie only through the lens of the addictions she battled for years. That wasn't the real Katie though, and those fortunate enough to truly know her immediately recognized her as a kind and beautiful soul; the one who ended nearly every conversation with those she cared about with 'Love you'.
Growing up Katie was a treasure and was loved deeply, with so much promise and yet she still died from an overdose. Addiction does not discriminate. She had a way about her that drew people to her, she always had an infectious smile and a big laugh that could light up a room the moment she walked in. She was a beautiful, kind, funny, smart, and free-spirited soul. Katie was a very talented artist and created many beautiful and original drawings. Katie had a big heart and deeply loved her son, family and friends, and was very passionate about animals – always feeding or bringing home a stray!
Preceded by her father, Gerald S. Yaeger and stepfather, Donald Young, and Life Partner Gary Anderson.
She is survived by her son and the love of her life, Chance Spencer Anderson, Mother, Elizabeth Yaeger Young, Brother Michael G. Yaeger (Crisey Yaeger), Nephews Spencer Yaeger and Parker Yaeger, Aunt Lori Gardner, Uncle Jim Gardner (Anita) and cousins Jamie Lombardo, Jake Lombardo, Ryan Gardner, Lily Anna Xayyavongsa, Luis Lopez Lombardo.
Katie is now at peace; she will be deeply missed by all. I will always cherish the beautiful memories and times that we spent together. The day Katie died, a part of me died along with her. I will miss her every day for the rest of my life.
Friends may call Sunday 12 noon - 2 pm July 23, 2023, at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (west of Long Pond Rd.) Katie's funeral service will follow visitation at 2 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be private for the family only in Riverside Cemetery. She will be laid to rest next to her father Gerald Yaeger.
In lieu of flowers friends may make contributions to an animal rescue of their choice in memory of Katie.
