Irondequoit- Charles S. "Spence" Champion, 67, entered into eternal life on July 1, 2019.
Spence was born in Rochester, NY on September 20, 1951 to the late Charles R. and Grace E. Champion. Spence was a lifelong member of Laurelton Fire Dept., and he was a loyal 2nd generation Kodak employee. He will be remembered for his love of watching his children participate on firematic drill teams. He was very proud that his children have carried on the tradition of volunteering with their local fire department. Spence was an avid bowler, camper, and breakfast cook.
He is predeceased by his brother-in-law, John Mahoney.
He is survived by his children, Charles (Jessica) Champion, Christopher Champion, and Heather (Joshua von Rathonyi) Champion, his grandson, Braxton Champion, the mother of his children, Laurie Champion, his sister, Cynthia (Dennis) Champion-Mahoney, his in-laws, John (Margaret) Lynch, his nephews, Jan (Christy) Lynch, Joseph Lynch, Robert (Tammy) Arnold, his great niece, Miranda Lynch, his great nephew, Jacob Lynch, and many cousins.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd, Rochester, NY 14609, on Thursday, July 11, 2019, 4:00pm-8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Mark's and St. John's Church, 1245 Culver Road, Rochester, NY 14609 on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 10:00am. Burial will be held at White Haven Memorial Park.
