Charles (Charlie) S. Hoover Jr., 76, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 6, 2020.
Charles is predeceased by his parents Charles and Agnes Hoover and his wife Jill Kuszay Hoover.
Surviving is his loving companion Phyllis Chess; his children Shawn (Karen) Hoover, Christopher Hoover, Jessica Hoover Rowe, and Shelby Harrell; sisters and brothers Marnie (Matthew) Radkowski, William (Rita) Hoover, Kevin (Kathy) Hoover, Wendy (Bernard) Castrechino and Deneen Alonci; Grandchildren: Michael Hoover, Joe Hoover, Nevaeh Hoover, Nathan Hoover, Alani Rose Hoover, Alexis Rowe, John Rowe, Juliana Rowe, Ezekiel Santini, Izabella Santini and several nieces and nephews.
Charlie was born on April 4, 1944, in Batavia, NY. He resided with his parents and siblings in Shortsville, NY and then moved to Atlantic Avenue in Rochester, NY.
Enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1961, he served on a Navy ship as a cook during the Vietnam War. Charlie was an active member and a Commander of the Honeoye Falls Legion Post. He was proud to serve his country and be a Veteran.
A hard worker, Charlie held several jobs throughout his life time. He retired from Eastman Kodak and then followed his passion to be a salesman. He loved people and could sell anything.
Charlie's infectious personality always made an impression on all who met him. He always had a smile on his face and a chuckle in his voice as he made people laugh with his jokes and antics. He was a mischievous prankster, even as a child according to his siblings.
Charlie dearly loved his family and friends and kept in touch with them every day. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren who were the center of his life and he loved spending time with his companion, Phyllis, whom he "loved with all his heart."
Charlie adored the senior community where he lived. Known as the 'Ambassador', he was always welcoming, helping and socializing with the new and old residents. He shared his faith and held regular prayer services to bring the community together. He hosted his famous 10,000 dice games and consistently participated in all of the scheduled activities.
Charlie's kindness, good-natured friendly loving ways and especially his infectious smile will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. "There will forever be a hole in our hearts."
Celebration of Charlie's life will be held March 27, 11am at Faith Bible Church, 1095 E Henrietta Rd, Rochester, NY 14623
