Obituary for Charles A. Koch

Charles Albert Koch passed away on January 6th 2020 at the age of 74 years old. He is recently predeceased by his beloved wife and world, Linda Koch. Charles and Linda Koch are also predeceased by their children, Charles Koch, Jr. and Linda Kucak, as well as Charles' parents, Joseph and Laura Koch, and his brother-in-law- Gary Holowka.
He is survived by his two loving brothers Joseph (Janet) Koch and William (Nancy) Koch. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Maria Holowka and brother-in-law Nick (Anne) Olexenko. He leaves behind a granddaughter Sheila (Jeffrey) Reed and great-granddaughter Grace Reed.
He is survived by his nephews Joseph (Kerrie) Koch, Matthew Koch, Gary (Barbara) Holowka Jr., Eric (Jennifer) Holowka, Pete (Kitty) Olexenko, Dave (Rebecca) Olexenko and Nick (Ginny) Rister. His surviving nieces are Kara Koch, Kirsten (Dara) Koch, Molly (Hannon) Wright and Sarah Rister. Charles leaves behind two beloved great-nephews Blake and Kaleb. He will be remembered fondly by the special family members Luba (Mike) Davis and the Reeds.
Charles, Charlie by his friends and family, had a decades long career driving for the Regional Transit Service of Rochester, New York. In his "retirement", he chatted up customers working alongside his friend Fred at the American Sportsman gun store. Charlie had a passion for firearms and the shooting sports and was himself an excellent marksman and sporting clays shooter. Above all, Charlie lived and breathed cars. He drove numerous Corvettes over his life and was an enthusiastic member of the Rochester Corvette Club for many years. In the last few years he enjoyed zipping around town in his Mustang.
Charlie struggled with complications of diabetes and heart disease. Despite feeling ill at times he found ways to make each day special. He had a great sense of humor that was contagious and he had a big heart for people. He drove over an hour each way multiple times a week to visit his late wife, Linda Koch, when she was in residence at a distant nursing home in Medina, NY. During his visits with her he would often lovingly tease her, and reminisce of all their good times together over a shared meal.
His smiling face and lighthearted spirit will be missed by all.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 1pm to 3pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 2636 Ridgeway Avenue where a memorial service will follow calling at 3pm.
