Whitmarsh, Charles E. Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020 at the age of 79 after a long battle with cancer and dementia. He is predeceased by his parents, Claude R. Whitmarsh, Vivian V. Lung and his brother, Bruce R. Whitmarsh. He is survived by a half-brother, Larry W. Coxon of CA, his Children: Michael (Cheryl) Whitmarsh, Bruce D. (Michelle) Whitmarsh & Dyann Blum, Grandchildren: Tony (Nikki) & Nicole Whitmarsh, Ryan & Katie Whitmarsh, Kevin, Kyle & Erin Blum, Great-Grandchildren: Emma, Haylee & Zackary Whitmarsh, Nephew: Tom (Michelle) Whitmarsh, Niece: Sandra (Keith) Hoerner, several great-nieces & nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
Charlie was born and raised in Rochester, NY. After graduating from Monroe High School (1958) he served 4 years active duty in the United States Air Force at Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX. He returned to Rochester in 1963, married and raised his family in Henrietta, NY. Charlie was a Quality Control Engineer, retired from Xerox after 37 years and spent most of his retirement living on Black Lake where he made many cherished memories fishing/boating, golfing, hosting Happy Hours by the water and spending precious time with family and friends.
Charlie will be remembered most for his sense of humor, hospitality, generosity, his lifelong friendships, loyalty, devotion to family and his undying commitment to providing for those he loved.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, Westside Chapel, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue on Tuesday, March 10th from 4pm-7pm, immediately followed by a short ceremony on site. Those wishing to gather for a casual Celebration of Charlie's Life may visit and enjoy refreshments with the family from 6pm-9pm on Wednesday evening, March 11th in the Villas at Fieldstone Clubhouse located on Maple Center Road, just off North Greece Rd in Greece. Burial will be private and held on a future date at the convenience of family.
