Charlotte Couse was born on May 17, 1923 in South Millbrook, New York (Dutchess County) to parents Paul & Mable Couse.

Charlotte had 2 sisters, Betty Jean & Pauline. She graduated from high school in 1941.

Charlotte married ‘Bucky’ in Sebring, Florida (Egbert Cornel Buckhout). Bucky was a career Major in the U.S. Army.

Bucky & Charlotte had 4 children; Kathleen, Barbara, Robert & David.

While Bucky was in the military, the family traveled & lived in Germany, Georgia, Pennsylvania - finally settling in Herkimer County New York, where Bucky retired from the Army.

Bucky passed away in July 1985. Followed by the passing years later of her daughter Barbara in 2002.

Charlotte sold their home in Herkimer County and went to live with her sister in-law Florence & husband Larry.

Florence was disabled due to a series of strokes, but with the dedicated care of Charlotte, she and Larry took care of Florence, as they all traveled in their RV they called ‘Harvey’.

Harvey allowed them to visit family in various cities and states. In their travels, they took up their own residencies in Williamsburg VA, Rochester & New Jersey.

After Florence passed away, Charlotte & Larry found companionship within each other and married.

They lived in New Jersey, until Larry fell ill and also passed away.

Charlotte then moved out to Wisconsin to be closer to her daughter Kathy, husband Doug & family.

She lived in a wonderful senior living facility ‘The Gables’ in Milwaukee/Germantown, Wisconsin.

Charlotte quickly made many friends and started actively painting, having arts & crafts displays and was featured in a local news segment.

She also started writing her memoir, entitled ‘My Gypsy Life’.

Charlotte’s daughter Kathy passed away in January 2013. At age 95, Charlotte moved to Rochester to be closer to her 2 sons, Bob & David.

Charlotte took up residency at the Village at Unity and again, instantly gained many friendships.

She continued impressing everyone with her painting talent of birds, landscape sceneries and many family & friends pets, which many of you now have in your possession.

Charlotte lived at the Village at Unity for 5 years, having a big ‘100 Year Celebration’ in May 2023, in the main ball room.

In July 2023, Charlotte moved to the Jewish Home, as she was in need of full care. She still attended painting classes and became very well know with the residence & staff.

Charlotte was a strong, independent woman, that loved the activity of family & friends and enjoyed meeting new people along the way.

She will be remembered and missed by so many.
