Christopher A Melito Sr, was born on December 6, 1928, and passed away on March 3, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his first wife Ann (Schiano) Melito, his second wife MaryAnn (Vespa) Melito and his siblings Mary Grande, Vincent Melito, and Connie Melito. Chris is survived by his children Tom (Melissa) Melito, Linda (Calvin) Hebert, Chris (Liz) Melito Jr, Mike (Betsy) Melito and his grandchildren Adam Hebert, Carissa Hebert, Alexandra (Stu) Ferguson and Elise Melito, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He joined the Rochester Police Department and retired as Detective after a long and successful career and helped solve many cases during his 34 years with the RPD.
Chris was well-known for his trumpet playing and lifelong passion for jazz which made him a fixture in the Rochester music venues, where he developed friendships with many famous jazz musicians like Bobby Hackett, Ray Mosca, Chuck Mangione and Stan Getz.
The family would like to thank Chris's neighbors for their many kindnesses to their father. The family is also grateful for the loving care offered to him by the staff at Hildebrandt Hospice Center.
The family will be holding a private interment service at Whitehaven Memorial Park.
