Clyde Pope Jr. 74, of Rochester, NY, passed away on July 22, 2023, after a courageous battle with various illnesses.
Clyde was born on June 22, 1949, to Clyde H. Pope Sr. and Naomi Josephine Hall in Rochester, NY. After graduating from Job Corp in 1967, Clyde went on to live a life of honor that would have an everlasting impact on the lives of many.
Clyde maintained consistent employment throughout his life, but his life's path led him to a career at Industry Residential Center, New York State Division for Youth in 1979, where he worked as a Child Care Worker for 20 years. In 1972, he met Desiree Bodine, and they went on to build a loving lasting life together for fifty-one years, they wed on August 5, 1995. During this union they had 3 children, Yolanda Pope, Clyde Pope III, Shaun Jermaine Pope.
Clyde was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often talked about. He was unendingly proud of his wife and children and did everything in his power to support them.
Clyde was a strong, kind, loving, father and husband. His wisdom and guidance were the foundation of his family.
Anyone who knew Clyde knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.
Clyde was predeceased by Clyde Pope Sr. (Father), Naomi Josephine Pope (Mother), Michael Hutchison (Brother), Lyman Pope (Brother), Claudette Pope (Sister). He is survived by his wife Desiree Pope, three children: Yolanda Pope, Clyde Pope III (Mya), and Shaun Jermaine Pope. Eight grandchildren; Jaivaughn, Jaiquan, Mari, Bryson, Shameke, Malika, London and Chandler, one great-grandchild; Cuban Dior, two siblings; Darnell Pope (Brother), Leonard Pope (Brother). A host of in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Family and friends may call 11am - 12pm noon Friday, July 28, 2023, at House of God the Church, 654 N Goodman St, Rochester, NY 14609. A Memorial service will begin at 12 noon in the church sanctuary. Pastor Roger Breedlove officiating.
