Colleen Thompson, 76, passed away on November 28, 2023.
Born in Utica, NY on April 6, 1947, Colleen was the daughter of Edward and Irene (Ayers) Harris.
After growing up on Paris Hill, NY, she married Stan Thompson, of Ilion, and raised her family there. Colleen spent many years working at the Folts Home Daycare Center in Herkimer, NY and finished her career as a teaching aide at various sites for Herkimer County BOCES until her retirement. She was an active member of Valley Baptist Church until she moved to Webster, NY, where she attended Webster Bible Church and Under His Wings ministry.
Anyone who knew Colleen would say she was an inspiration. She always put others' needs above her own. She brought joy to every room she entered and focused on the bright side of life. Colleen loved to bake; it was one way she made others feel special. She never forgot a birthday and loved to send & receive cards and notes from friends and family over the years. She enjoyed planting and admiring flowers, bible studies, and time spent with family.
Colleen leaves behind her daughters and sons in laws, Tony and Tracey (Thompson) Coccitto of Spencerport and Michael and Kelly (Thompson) Getman of Webster; her beloved grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia, Maddie, and Michael; her brother, Todd Harris and many cherished extended family members.
She also leaves behind numerous special church friends and residents at the Legends at North Ponds.
There will be a memorial service at the Webster Bible Church, 675 Holt Road, Webster, NY at 10:00 a.m. on December 28, 2023.
The family wishes to thank all of Colleen's caregivers, as well as the Parkinson's outreach community for providing exceptional care and compassion for Colleen over the years.
