Rochester- Dan A. McFarland, 65, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2022.
Dan was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and loyal friend. He was loved by his family and took the role as the protector. He loved music, bowling, and to dress, and travel. He loved the Dallas Cowboys. He lived his life with great passion, and did it his way. Right, wrong, or indifferent.
His great passion made things happen. It opened doors that others couldn't. His passion transcended normal limits, and boundaries. We've all said at one point or another, "how does DOC do that?"
He taught us all how to live in the moment, and live life to the fullest. He taught us all how to be strong, and stand up, never quit, and to fight for what you believe in.
He is predeceased by his mother, Mary Lee McFarland, and his father, Clayton McFarland.
He is survived by his children, Kelsey Lightle, Curtis McFarland, Bradley Rivers, Jacqueline Lightle, his grandchildren, Katrell McFarland, Akiyah Kelley, Heaven Rivers, Curtis McFarland, Maurice Rivers, Kayla Lightle, Nazir Rivers, Zyir Rivers, and Harmony Rivers, his siblings, Denise McFarland, Brenda McFarland, Berlinda Magee, Cleveland McFarland, Claidean Council, Nettia Yant, June Holmes, and Roslyn Cabrera, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
"For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught. Not to say the things that he truly feels, and not the words of someone who kneels. The record shows I took my blows and, did it my way."
Calling hours will be held at Restoration House of Prayer, 60 Woodward Street, Rochester, NY 14605, on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 9am-11am, with a service to be held from 11am-1pm. Burial will be held at Grove Place Cemetery, Chili NY.
