Daniel Salvatore DiClemente, 56, passed away on June 23, 2024 in Rochester, New York, with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer.
Dan was born the oldest of three children to Mary Jane DiClemente (Giordano), and Anthony Richard DiClemente in Rochester, New York on October 29, 1967. He graduated from Greece Athena High School in 1985. On July 13, 1991, he married his dear wife Laura DiClemente (Sowell). They had two children and built a beautiful life together.
Dan served as President of BENTE Local 2419, which represents 1,250 support staff at the Rochester City School District, from 2002-2023. He also acted as President of AFSCME Council 66 from 2017-2024 and as an AFSCME International Vice President from 2018-2024.
Dan was a true trailblazer who lived life to the fullest and always fought for what is right. A lifelong advocate for working families, he dedicated his career to the advancement of his union brothers and sisters.
Outside of work, Dan was a deeply beloved and devoted father, son, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague, and friend. He always made time for his family, juggling everything from coaching soccer practices to managing construction projects at home to planning memorable vacations.
Dan is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane, his father-in-law Charles Sowell, his father-in-law James Earl, and his brother-in-law Jeff Sowell. He is survived by his wife, Laura; their two children, Stephanie and Katie; his father, Anthony; his brothers, Anthony and Steven; and many other friends and family. He will be missed endlessly by those who loved him.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 27 from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. A Funeral Mass will be held 9:30am Friday, June 28 at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N Greece Rd.
