Daniel Frederick Lehmann, 81, of Rochester, New York passed away Friday April 14, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Dan was born in Batavia, New York, he was the son of Frederick Daniel Lehmann and Doris Bemish Lehmann. Dan attended Alfred State College and later earned his MBA from University of Rochester. Throughout the years, Dan was a meat cutter, worked at Bausch and Lomb, Alliance Tool, at the Byron Hotel as a bartender and taught business classes at Genesee Community College and Herkimer Correctional Facility. He retired from his self-owned medical billing business in Annandale, Virginia and relocated back to Rochester in 2013.
Dan proudly served in the Navy as a submarine diesel mechanic, thus solidifying his love of sailing and being on the water. He was active and served as President of the Byron Kiwanis Club. While a Kiwanis member, Dan was best known for being head chef and meat cutter for the Annual Barbecue and initiating a community recreational program for special needs children. He was an avid blood and platelet donor for the American Red Cross, and belonged to the Norva Gun Club. Dan volunteered with the Rochester Veterans Center as both an ombudsman and driver.
Daniel is survived by his first wife, (Sharon) and their four children, Frederick (Jill), Kristina (Steve), Michael (Melissa) and Debora; twelve grandchildren (Madelyn, Marlaina, Karlee, Kayla, Tyler, Matthew, Kate, Olivia, Kayla, Ryan, Ariana, and Joshua), one great grandchild (Colin), and a nephew Peter Hammer (Terri).
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his second wife Patricia Bartello and his sister, Emelia (Bill).
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday April 20 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (west of Long Pond Rd.) Funeral services will follow visitation at 6 pm, Rev. Herman Alston will officiate. Full military honors by The US Navy.
