Daria V. Luzeckyj

January 2, 1935 — March 4, 2021

Daria went home to be with the Lord on March 4th, 2021 at the age of 86. She is predeceased by her husband, Wasyl Luzeckyj, her parents, Stephan and Anna Oleksiw from Ukraine, and her son-in-law, Gerald Braun. She is survived by her children, Christina Braun, Timothy (Laura) Luzeckyj, Martha Luzeckyj, and Tamara (David Olin) Luzeckyj; granddaughter, Melissa Braun, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Daria was born in Lviv, Ukraine to Stephan and Anna Oleksiw. She emigrated to America where she came to live with her aunt's family in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from St. Basil's Academy and later was introduced by a relative to Wasyl Luzeckyj in the Ukrainian Community and they were married in June of 1958.

She was employed for many years at the Ukrainian Credit Union in Rochester, NY. Daria was a daycare mother who opened her home to children of single mothers in the City of Rochester. She found her spiritual home with the Bethel Full Gospel Church Family.

She loved to dance and taught ballroom dancing at Arthur Murray's Studio as well as to many family and friends. She received her love of dance from her mother, Anna, who was a ballerina in Poland and Ukraine. Daria was blessed with many gifts as an artist. She loved to paint, sew, was an excellent cook and baker. and made Ukrainian Pysanky. Some of her Ukrainian Pysanky are in the collection at the Ukrainian Museum in New York City. She had a competitive spirit and loved a good game of Scrabble or Gin Rummy.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. We are so grateful to her for passing on her gifts and passions of art, music, dance, cooking, gardening and love for animals.

At this time, our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the loving and attentive care shown to our mother from Lifetime Care Hospice Team Nurses and all other supportive workers for care with Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.

Daria has blessed many lives with her talents. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

No prior calling hours. Private Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
