Predeceased by his parents, Irving and Mabel, brother Austin, nephew Dennis and in-laws Ronald and Dorall Hardy.
Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Cheryl, his sons; Christian (Julie), Matthew (Margo) and his beloved grandchildren: Nathan, Thomas, Michael, and Margaret.
David is also survived by his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Hardy. Sister-in-laws, Toni (Larry) Hardy and Jackie (Paul) Bray, nephews; Doug Chamberlain, Craig Chamberlain, Shawn McKechney and niece; Danielle (Robbie) Ryba.
David was born and raised on the family farm in Hilton, NY. His older brother, Austin, became a surrogate father to him after his father, Irving, passed away when David was just 9 years old. David attended Hilton schools, graduating from High School in 1966. David proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1970 to 1977.
David spent most of his career working as a Professional Land Surveyor. For the last 5 years, he worked for the Town of Gates as their Storm Water Management Inspector and served the residents of Gates as a member of the Town Planning Board. David was an avid reader with a passion for history. He had several interests including vintage cars, auto racing, drawing, gardening and genealogy.
David was a reserved but steadfast type of guy. When asked why he was so quiet, he'd use one of our favorite Dave-isms in a snooty accent; "I have nothing to say." He was quiet, patient, and always willing to assist whenever, wherever and however help was needed. David will be missed greatly by family, friends, and co-workers, and remembered fondly as a devoted husband, loving father, doting Papa and good friend.
