Greece: Saturday, June 21, 2008 at age 87. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn Bainbridge Pinkney; son, Gregory Pinkney; daughter, Susan (Robert) Leonard; granddaughter, Rachel Leonard; brother, Thomas Pinkney; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
David was born in Walney Island, England. He was a John Marshall High School graduate; a member of the 9th Infantry Combat Engineers during WWII, serving in Ardennes, central Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Sicily and Northern Africa after which he was awarded the Silver Star for Gallantry in Action. David co-owned Pinkney Marine with his brother, Tom.
Family and friends may attend calling hours 2-4 PM Thursday at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave., followed by a Memorial Service at 4 PM. A Graveside Service will be held 1:30 PM Friday at Riverside Cemetery (meet at gate). Donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
