Irondequoit: Passed away peacefully on Monday, February 4, 2008. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, James & Dolores Travis and brother, James O. Travis. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, George. Also survived by her daughters, Denise (Jim) Dill, Kyle Smith, Sherry Schakow; sons, Thomas and Richard Schakow; grandchildren, James, Robert, Caitlyn and Michael Dill, Samantha and Travis Smith and Richard and Patrick Schakow; sister-in-law, Mary Travis; as well as several cousins and many dear friends. Dolores loved working in her garden and playing Uno and dominos. She was a retiree of Fleet Bank and also an election inspector. She was active in the Laurelton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday, February 7th from 4-8 PM at the New Comer Family Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. Friends are invited to meet the family on Friday morning at 9:30 AM at St. James Church, 130 Brett Road for her Funeral Mass. For those wishing, please consider honoring Dolores with a donation to your favorite charity. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Heather Heights, VNS Hospice and Tradition in Caring Aides, especially Janetta, Barbara and Miranda for their loving care and kindness.
