Donald (DJ) J. Aleksander (Alexander), age 94, beloved father of Cynthia, LaDonna, and LaKarla passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024.
Donald was born on October 17th, 1929, in Rochester, New York to the late Donis J. Alexander and Louise Pudetti Alexander.
Donald was a lifetime resident of Rochester, growing up on Holland street where he attended the local elementary school, and St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. Shortly after graduating from East High School, he apprenticed as a brick mason and became a highly skilled tradesman. He would later own a gas station, various properties throughout the city, including a neighborhood store in the Joseph Avenue Community, where he was highly respected and loved.
He worked at Modern Fish until retirement. Donald was a Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. He was an avid bike rider well into his later years. He was a longtime member and former secretary of The Rochester Road Knights, a local motorcycle social group that offered a sense of community and support. He also enjoyed reading, watching Sunday night football games, attending parades, and discussing politics.
He leaves behind devoted daughters Cynthia R. Lang, LaDonna A. Dey of Rochester, New York and LaKarla N. Moore (Gordon Il) of New Haven, Connecticut; sister Diana Wissick of Brooksville, Florida, 6 grandchildren, David L. Dey II, Alessandria R.Daniello (Michael), Donovan J. Dey, Bryanna A, Moore, Victoria O. Dey, Gordon M. Moore Ill and a host of nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, brother Carl L. Alexander, and daughter Dawn (Donnie Alexander).
Services for Donald will be held privately.
