On July 7, 2024, at the age of 91, Donald passed away peacefully.
Donald entered active service with the Air Force after graduating high school. He was a veteran of the Korean War and continued his service with the United States Army Reserves until his retirement in 1992. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he began working with the United States Postal Service where he retired 33 years later. Donald was a lifetime member of the Thomas F. Healy VFW Post 16.
Predeceased by his parents, John & Phoebe Makely; sister, Patricia Scranton; nephews, Michael & Kevin.
He is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Bryon) VanVorst & Kara Makely; beloved grandsons, Joseph Makely & Austin VanVorst; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at St. Theodore's Church 168 Spencerport Rd, Rochester, NY 14606. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 2461 Lake Ave. Rochester, New York 14612
