Donn G. DeAngelis
Canandaigua, NY: Donn Gerard DeAngelis passed away on Good Friday, April 10, 2020 at the age of 91 from complications of COVID – 19. Born in Rochester, NY, he raised his family in Pittsford NY; retiring to Canandaigua NY by his beloved Lake.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Elaine DeAngelis (Chuck) Kasiske and son, Mark (Sharon) DeAngelis. He is predeceased by his parents Michael and Lois DeAngelis, his brother Deane DeAngelis and his sister Diane DeAngelis Hoffman.

Donn lives on through the lives of his granddaughters: Ashleigh Kasiske (Todd) Buhr and Catherine De Angelis (Kyle) Olson, his great grandchildren, Milo William Buhr and Ruby Susan Olson. He would smile and laugh as he to referred to himself as, "Grandpa 2X", for his great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

As a young man, Donn attended Lakemont Academy in Geneva on Seneca Lake, where he developed his lifelong passions for horsemanship, playing polo, skiing, soccer and football. It was here that Donn learned the importance of decorum and lived his life humble and well-dressed – always sporting a long-sleeved shirt and a tie.

Architecture was Donn's career and extraordinary talent. He attended Western Reserve University (now known as Case Western Reserve University), majoring in Architecture and served as president in the Delta Upsilon fraternity. After graduation and over his 40 year career, he designed many buildings in Rochester, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, NYC and California. Within the Greater Rochester Area, Donn designed: St Anthony of Padua Church on Mortimer Street, The Treadway Inn on East Avenue (now The City Grill) and The Towne House Motor Inn & Restaurant, one of Rochester's first
motels and only fireproof Inn at the time, formerly located at the corner of Mt Hope and Elmwood Avenues.

Donn was a proud Korean War veteran, having served in the US Navy and US Navy Reserves for six years. One of his most notable assignments, was when he given top security clearance at the Pentagon to work for Chief of Naval of Operations, H. L. Lasell, Commander, US Navy. Donn was responsible for drafting and cartographic work in the translation of textual and photographic material into plans and diagrams used in high level planning. He loved to refer to that time, as "drawing the ports of the world."

He loved spending time with his family and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, car and boat enthusiast and fisherman.

Donn's family wishes to extend a sincere, heartfelt thank you and appreciation to all of the health care providers at FF
Thompson for their compassionate care, kindness, dedication and sacrifice especially in the Intensive Care Unit.

A celebration of Donn's life will be held with family and friends at a date and time to be determined.
