Dorothy L. Chapman

Cheraw, SC:

Dorothy Chapman of Cheraw went to be with the Lord on October 19th, 2017 in Rochester, NY. Born in Cheraw, SC on August 23, 1932 to Addie Chapman. She received a dual diploma from Erasmus Hall High School in Flat Bush, NY and Albany High School in Albany, NY. She then attended secondary education at Monterey College, Pensacola College, and was accepted in the Extension Dental Assistance Program in 1961 at UCLA.

Dorothy was a lover of classical music, an accomplished Seamstress, and an impressive athlete. As a mature woman she still played tennis, swam, and loved to ice skate. Dorothy always encouraged education and often times volunteered to tutor the youth of inner city children. Dorothy was a child of God and admired the book of Proverbs. She truly was the wise elder of the family.

Dorothy leaves behind a host of relatives including 3 generations of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Albany: Family will receive friends 10-11am with a service at 11am Friday, November 3rd at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. Interment to follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Rochester: Family will receive friends 6-7pm with a service at 7pm Monday, November 6th at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, a potted plant would be appreciated.
