Dorothy "Dossie" Gillard, 87, recently of Rochester, NY, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
Dossie was born in Newport, RI to the late William and Dorothy Kehew on February 26, 1935. After graduating from Salve Regina College with a degree in Chemistry, she moved to New York City where she worked in the laboratories of Charles Pfizer & Co.
It was in New York City in 1963 that Dossie met and married the great love of her life, William J. Gillard, of Scranton, PA, who also had moved to New York City to begin a long career in finance.
Dossie became the best mother in the world, a totally devoted mother of 5 children, raising them in New York and the New Jersey suburbs, where she was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary and Our Lady of the Magnificat Roman Catholic parishes.
Dossie is predeceased by her parents and her sister Julie Anne.
She is survived by her loving husband William, brother Bud Kehew, children Elizabeth, William, Timothy, Jeffrey, and Thomas, as well as her son and daughters- in-law Ty, Susan, Shannon, and Gina, and her grandchildren Matt, Mike, Laura, Imogen, Dominic, Xavier, Gwen, Luke, and Shane, as well as her nieces and nephews.
Dossie will be buried at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Newcastle, Maine.
