Vogt, Dorothy P. (Powers)
Rochester: Passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the age of 94. Predeceased by her husband, Donald J.; and daughter, Roberta V. Haley. She is survived by her son, John D. (Kathleen); and son-in-law, William P. Haley; grandchildren, Maureen (Michael) Bonafede, Margaret (Steven) Swanson, Sean P. (Chantel) Vogt, Sr., Johanna (Joseph) DiSalvo, Bruce (Jill) Vogt of TX. and Stephanie (Scott) Pinkney; great-grandchildren, Sean Jr. and Grant Vogt, Haley and Hunter Swanson, Joseph, Lilliana and Samantha DiSalvo and Nathan Vogt; dear friends, Linda, Chris and Heather Belmont; many nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends at The Friendly Home.
Dorothy led a full life. In the 1930's, she studied to be a Medical Technician at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Canada. She came back to the U. S. and was employed by the Phone Company and Blue Cross & Blue Shield. In 1941, she married Don, and had two children with him. In the 1950's and 1960's, Dorothy was active in St. Andrew's School, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Civil Defense. In 1962, she was hired by Security Trust Bank, where she retired in the 1980's. She and Don were active in the Parents Alumni Association of Bishop Kearney High School and traveled extensively with them. She worked with the BKHS BINGO teams from the '70s until '90. . She was a member of Saint Andrew's Parish. She was also an avid knitter that all will miss. She loved to travel the world.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, June 16, 4-8 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10 AM at Light of Christ Roman Catholic Parish at St. Andrew's Church, 923 Portland Ave. Interment, Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bishop Kearney High School Scholarship Fund, 125 Kings Highway South, Rochester, New York 14617 or The Friendly Home, 3156 East Avenue, Rochester, New York 14618 in Dorothy's memory.
