Died peacefully Sunday, Janaury 16, 2011 at age 99. He was predecesed by his wife, Florence; brothers, Dr. Rocco L. Stio, Nicholas Stio; sisters, Frances Casetti, Rose Bevaqua, Theresa DeStefano, Lucille Sturrett. Survived by his children, Mary Lou (Al) Polizzi, Joseph (Marcia) Stio, Joanne Bansbach, Robert Stio, John Stio, Richard (Victoria) Stio; grandchildren, Joseph (Jennifer) Polizzi, Michelle (Paul) Nesser, Nicole Stio, Brien Bansbach, Sarah and Natalie Stio, Judy Doetterl; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the 7th District Dental Society. A graduate of University of Buffalo and St. Louis University College of Dentistry and ran his own private practice on Portland Ave. for 40 years. He was a winter resident of Boca Raton, FL. and a resident of Clayton, NY 1000 Islands for 60 years.
There will be no prior calling hours. Joseph's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 19th at 9:30 AM at Peace of Christ Parish at St. Ambrose Church, 25 Empire Blvd. Private Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Visiting Nurse Service Hospice, 2180 Empire Blvd., Webster, NY 14580 or the to the charity of the donor's chocie.
