E. Lee Allen

Passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023, at the age of 92.
He is survived by Christine (Howard) Maffucci and Michael (Maureen) Allen; grandchildren Amy (Grower) and Steven Maffucci and Marisa and Matthew Allen; great grandchildren Henry and Siena Grower and Rosalie Maffucci. He is predeceased by his wife, Nancy Allen; and brother Morris Allen.
After graduating from Jackson High School in 1948 and following graduation Lee served in the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Air Force, he met his future wife, Nancy DiBiase and they married in 1952.
After being honorably discharged Lee attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. His career took him north where he worked for Xerox Corporation.
In 1966 he was offered the opportunity to work for General Electric as part of the team that supported the NASA Apollo space program. This brought them back south to Houston where his work focused on the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM). His time supporting the Apollo program was a special time and created many lasting memories and friendships.
Following the end of the Apollo program he returned to Xerox and held multiple roles. He finished his career at ITEK Optical Systems in Boston before moving back to Rochester in retirement.
A private ceremony will be held for the family at his request.
