Rochester: Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Highland Hospital, Wife, mother, and career nurse passed away at the age of 90. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Jack and a brother, Albert. She is survived by her son, Thomas Trumeter; brother and sister in law, Jack and Beverly Mosley; nieces and nephews, Shawn (Kim) Mosley, Cristel Carver Oschmann, Darren (Tina) Trumeter, Kimn Trumeter Weiboldt, Sandra Trumeter (Mike) Chafin, Ann Trumeter Wilson and their families.
Service will be held at St. John's Home Chapel, 150 Highland Avenue in Rochester on Monday January 30 at 7PM. No prior calling. Private Interment at Union Hill Cemetery, Webster, NY in the Spring.
Edna was born February 22, 1926 in Spencerport, New York and grew up in Chili.
She graduated from Churchville-Chili High School (1943) and attended Highland Hospital School of Nursing (grad.1948), where she began her 45 year nursing career. She and her husband Jack moved to Dexter, New York in 1953 where they purchased and ran a summer cottage rental business in addition to working in their careers. She returned to college at age 50 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Edna pioneered the newly minted specialty of Infection Control/Utilization Review in the North Country and worked in that specialty until her retirement in 1995. She was employed by the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and E.J. Noble Hospital during those years.
Edna was active in the United Methodist Church of Dexter, PTA, Daughters of Rebeka, and served as a volunteer for the American Heart Association (Volunteer of the Year for 1983) and Dexter Citizens Committee. She returned to Rochester, where she lived in Greece until 2007, and was a resident of St. John's Nursing Home until her death. At St. John's Home, Edna was a regular attendee at church services and active in the gardening club.
Edna was a loving mother, wife and saw the good in everybody and everything. She will be missed by all.
