Passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024 at the age of 81.

Predeceased by his parents, Edward & Ruth Bangel; brother, Ronald C. Bangel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan Bangel; children, Ronald E. Bangel & Jennifer (James) DiMatteo; sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Bevier; a niece & several nephews.

Ed was born on December 25, 1942 in Buffalo, NY. An Eagle Scout, Ed received a BA degree from Michigan State University in 1964. Shortly thereafter, he married, his very best friend Joan Heidenburg. They celebrated 60 wonderful years together in 2024.

Ed became a Certified Public Accountant in 1966. Also, Ed served 6 years in the Army Reserves. Ed worked as an auditor at KPMG Peat Marwick in Buffalo, NY, controller for Bison Foods in Buffalo, NY, & VP at Dairylea Cooperative in Syracuse, NY. He retired in 2009. Ed volunteered his accounting skills as treasurer of his church in Buffalo, NY, & as treasurer of Manlius Senior Center, Manlius, NY & Erie Village Homeowners Association, Syracuse, NY.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534.

In lieu of flowers, in honor of Ed, memorial contributions may be made to: Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 48 Perrin Street, Fairport, NY, 14450.
