Edward L. Knapp

May 5, 1945 — December 6, 2021

Spencerport - Peacefully passed away on December 6, 2021 at the age of 76.

Predeceased by his parents, Henry & Ida Braun.

He is survived by his sister, Jeannette (Roosevelt) King; many nieces, nephews, cousins, & a large spiritual family.

Eddie was born on May 5, 1945. He came from a large, impoverished family and was placed in an orphanage at a young age. He lived in the orphanage until he was about 13 years old. This is when the Knapp family adopted him. He lived with the Knapp family until he joined the U.S. Army in 1965. Eddie served overseas during the Vietnam war until 1969. After he served in the military, he started to study the Bible with Henry and Ida Braun, who he had previously met at the "Sweet Shop" that they owned in Brockport. Eddie used to enjoy spending time at the Sweet Shop, playing the pin ball machine, eating fries, and drinking chocolate milkshakes.

While Eddie was studying the Bible, Henry and Ida opened their home to him and welcomed him to be part of their family. Henry and Ida loved and cared for Eddie as if he was their own son. They provided Eddie with the love and support and security of a family that he had always wanted. The Braun children became like siblings to Eddie and together they shared many fun times, like going to the carnival and making fry cakes.

In September 1970, Eddie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He had a strong faith in Jehovah God and wanted to share what he learned with others. Eddie began full time door-to-door ministry service as soon as he retired. He spent a great deal of his time in service to Jehovah until his health no longer allowed him to do so. Even though his health no longer allowed him to be out in the door-to-door ministry, Eddie was devoted to reading and studying the Bible and enjoyed listening to Kingdom melodies. Eddie was very fond of his large spiritual family that he was a part of as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Eddie worked many different jobs, but the job that he worked at the longest was T&L Automatic. Eddie enjoyed spending time with his cat, who he named Tiger. Eddie's cat brought him much joy and companionship. The thing that made Eddie the happiest was being part of the Braun family and watching the children, the grandchildren, and the great-grandchildren grow up.

On December 6, 2021, Eddie peacefully died in his sleep. Eddie truly believed in the hope of being resurrected to a paradise earth and living in perfect health forever. "And God will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." -Revelation 21:4
