Passed away Monday, October 25th, 2021 at age 92.
Survived by his beloved wife, Sophie; seven children, twelve grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren,
daughter, Bonnie Watson (James Steele), New Port, RI,
daughter, Laura (Barry) Byrne, Gainesville, FL; their children,
Heather (Eddy) McKenna , Alyson (Carlos) Escribano, Tyler Byrne,
daughter, Donna Deppert, Rochester, NY; her daughter, Whitney Deppert,
daughter, Julie Merrifield, Ipswich, MA; her children, Emily (Will) Liberis,Trevor Merrifield, Taylor Merrifield,
daughter, Sharon Watson, Mt. Pleasant, SC,
son, Edward F. (Christine) Watson III, Baton Rouge, LA; their children, Alexander (Hailey) Watson, Kayla Watson, Nicholas Watson, &
son, Steve (Stephanie) Watson, Zelienople, PA; their children, Landon Watson & Madeline Watson.
Ed graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1946. He received his Civil Engineering degree from Cornell University in 1951.
He served for two years in the US Army Corps of Engineers, including one year in the Korean War.
Shortly after returning home, he married his high school sweetheart, Sophie Pirone.
Then he worked for the Chester Engineers, Pittsburgh, PA for 11 years, and the City of Batavia for 2 years.
In 1966 he started a 27 year career in the City of Rochester Dept. of Public Works/Environmental
Services in various management positions, including Commr. of Public Works, City Engineer, and
project manager for the Hemlock Filtration Plant.
The Rochester Engineering Society presented Ed with the 1986 Engineer of the Year Award.
He retired in 1993.
His funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 30th at 9:30AM, at St Louis Church, 64 S. Main St., Pittsford N.Y.
Private interment will be held at White Haven Memorial Park.
