Pastor, Efrain G. Avila, 83, of Rochester, went home to be with the Lord, July 27, 2021, with his wife, Juana, by his side.
Born December 12, 1937 son of the late Francisco and Nestora Avila. Efrain was born and raised in Limonar, Matanzas, Cuba, where he met the love of his life, Juana, to which he married on July, 8, 1961 with 60 blessed years. Together they raised a son named Jose.
June 16, 1971, Efrain, Juana, and Jose migrated from Cuba, with the "Freedom Flights" program. He settled in Rochester, NY to raise his family in freedom, which that he sacrificed so much for.
Efrain's true passion is Jesus Christ our Lord. He was a beloved pastor at the First Spanish Baptist Church of Rochester, for 30 years. He was a great example of a man that followed God, and there is no doubt his legacy followed him to heaven. Efrain was always faithful in pastoring and preaching the word to the very end.
Efrain worked at Xerox, Webster plant, for 30 years. He also volunteered many hours at the Salvation Army, helping where it was needed.
Predeceased in death, besides his parents, siblings, Minerva (Fernando) Ysusi, Ernesto (Miriam) Avila, and his great grandson, Durrell Coley.
Survived by his loving wife, Juana, his dedicated son, Jose (Lisa) Avila, loving grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Schichler. Maria Avila, Joshua Avila (Claire Dappen), and Jose Avila Jr., several great grandchildren. Siblings, Enildo (Maria) Avila and Miriam (Juan) Sanchez.

Family will receive friends 10 AM - 12 PM Monday, August 2, 2021 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave., where his Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM. Entombment at Riverside Cemetery, 2650 Lake Avenue.
