Rochester: Sunday, July 18, 2010. Passed graciously, and with courage, humor and a lot of class after battling ovarian cancer. She was 56 years young. Predeceased by her mother, Marie; her brothers Paul & Robert. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Harvey; their son, Scott (Renee); their daughter, Lisa (Shawn Gleason); granddaughter, Scott & Renee's 2-year-old, Laura; and Eileen's pug, Diamond. Eileen is also survived by her father, Robert Bernhardi (Marie Congdon); brother, William (Diane) Bernhardi; sister, Mary (Ted) Parks; brother, Thomas (Patty) Bernhardi; brother, John (Fender) Bernhardi; 4 nieces and a nephew.
Eileen was a fun-loving person who loved to laugh and be silly, and she could also be "no-nonsense" and serious. She was private and outgoing at the same time. She loved to spend her time with her family at home, she loved to sing and dance, and she thoroughly enjoyed concerts and parties that had good music, and spread good cheer.
Memorial calling hours will be held 4-7 PM Friday at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. Eileen asked that her ashes be scattered and a memorial plaque for her will be placed in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Eileen and her family wish to thank the many hardworking and good people who were so kind, comforting and attentive while she was in their care at Unity Hospital, Hildebrandt Hospice, and at Advent House Comfort Care Hospice in Perinton.
