Elaine P. Goley

December 26, 1945 — January 4, 2023

Elaine P Goley passed away peacefully on January 4th 2023. Her husband Ron was by her side. Elaine lived a full life as an author, teacher, mentor and world traveler. In addition to her husband she is survived by her brother David Pulito (Darlene), nephews Daniel and Michael Pulito, cousins Ray and Marilyn Legnini, Gustavo Rex and Cathy and Bob Speciale.

She is predeceased by her father Joseph Pulito, mother Elva Pulito and aunts Angelina Legnini and Mary Locigno.

Elaine loved learning, meeting and making new friends, entertaining the same with excellent meals and conversation. Travel was essential to Elaine, especially in Europe where she thrived on the sites, scenery, culture and cuisine.

After completing her BS, English at SUNY Geneseo, Elaine taught in Rochester before moving to Florida where she also taught. Later she attended Florida State University (FSU) and she completed her Masters program in Library Science.

Elaine and Ron met and married in Pensacola, FL. where she was managing the Children's Collection for the West Florida Public Libraries. She and Ron then moved to Houston where they resided for 35 years.

As Coordinator for the Children's Collection she oversaw the materials acquisitions for the Houston Public Library (HPL). At the same time Elaine authored over two dozen books for children in the "LEARN THE VALUE OF" series. Each book addresses a single topic such as 'Love, Trust, Honesty, Patience and Understanding Others.

Following her retirement from HPL, Elaine returned to education with the Houston Independent School District (HISD). There she worked at the elementary school level where she helped students with Second Language Acquisition (SLA) difficulties.

In 2010 Elaine retired for health reasons and she and Ron relocated to Rochester. These were wonderful years with family and friends in New York and vacationing in Pensacola and visiting family and friend there.

Elaine truly loved family and her many friends. Travel was a great passion and inspiration for her. Through her many accomplishments Elaine made the world a better place. She will be very much missed by all who knew her.
