ROCHESTER, NY - Elemer J. Nagy, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2022 surrounded by members of his family.

Elemer was born in Vamoscsalad, Hungary on August 9, 1929 to Elemer and Emilia (Tamasi) Nagy. Elemer will be remembered for not only the deep love and commitment he had for his family but for the love of his homeland, Hungary. He was a Sergeant Major Quartermaster in the Hungarian Army. Elemer was instrumental in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. On the eve of October 23, 1956 he read the articles of demands in the village square. He was later recognized by the Hungarian government with a medal for his role in the revolution. He left his country as a result of the revolution and relocated to London, England where he met his wife of 63 years, Pearl (Harvey) Nagy. Elemer and Pearl remained in England for 10 years where they raised 4 of their 5 children. In 1966, via the RMS Queen Mary, the Nagy family migrated to the United States where their 5th child was born. Elemer proudly worked for and retired from Eastman Kodak Company as the supervisor of the Tool and Die room in 1987. Elemer and Pearl retired to Florida for 20 years before returning to Rochester. Elemer's friends and family will always remember him as their protector and hero. He was a man of honor and it showed in how he lived his life. His presence will be deeply missed.

He is predeceased in death by his parents, Elemer and Emilia (Tamasi) Nagy. Sister, Emilia Gizela (Nagy) Meri and husband Samuel Meri. Brother, Kalman and wife Carolyn (Tooker) Nagy and nephews Samuel and Zoltan Endre Meri.

He is survived by his eldest son, Gary Nagy (Karen); granddaughter Kristie Birch (Robert), great-grandchildren Julianna and Owen, and granddaughter Kimberly Yacono (Travis). Daughter, Carol Nagy Sikora (Gregory); granddaughter Angela Sikora Sears (Ryan) and great-granddaughter Elliana and grandson, Jonathan Sikora. Daughter, Jillian Nagy Monahan (Thomas); grandson Nicholas Carter (Caitlin Starks). Son, Eric Nagy; grandson Joseph Nagy (Kel Mazur), great-grandsons Bentley and Cameron
Nagy. Daughter, Sylvia Nagy Terpstra (Andre'); step-granddaughter Stephanie Terpstra (Joseph Bizari), step great-granddaughter Abigayle.

A service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
