Etta Mae Dixon, age 83 transitioned peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2020, with her husband of 43 years by her side. She was born on July 27, 1936, in Tifton, GA to her loving parents Simpson Kleckley and Ollie Black. Etta attended public school in New York City before moving to Rochester, NY where she studied to become a registered nurse but never fulfilled the duties. Instead, Etta went on to work for the Xerox Corporation for 26 years before retiring.
Etta loved to love people. Her hands were rarely still as she was always sewing or knitting something in free time. She also shared her love of food and travel with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether it was fresh-cut beans, fried tomatoes or okra, Etta always looked forward to cooking for and with the ones she loved.
Her life was lively and vibrant, like her smile. Each and every life Etta encountered became changed for the better. Her honesty and love made for the perfect match.
Etta is preceded in death by her two kids Joey and Lisa. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ret. Chief Master Sgt. US AirForce, Norman Dixon, sister La Ann McEachern of Rochester, NY, eldest son Jonathan Howard King, of Mount Morris, NY, Dollie LaAnna Miletti of Virginia, and Ida Vasciannie (Richard) of Caledonia, NY, as well as 7 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, friends, and extended family.
All of those she loved and touched deeply. The family will organize a celebration of her life this summer.
