Rochester, NY: Saturday, February 11, 2023. Born to Eugene Richard Ragland (deceased) and Nellie Mae Borum on August 29, 1964. To the memory of our loving husband, son, father, brother, "Buddy", and many more. Eugene's soul was genuine and reached many near and far. He is predeceased by grandmother Minnie Lee Allen, brother Vincent (Donna) Ragland, and sister Janet Ragland Beaman.
Survived by, in his words, "the love of my life, beautiful wife, air beneath my wings, air that I breathe, my best friend, lover, my favorite person", the counterpart to their BAMMVIV designation- Irma Vivian Ragland; their Seven Heartbeats: Vivian & bonus son Christopher Johnson, Shaundra Ragland, Joshua Cruz, Nicole Ragland, Ashley (Syran) Ragland, Selena Ragland, bonus daughter Alex Rodriguez; his beloved grandchildren: Selina Cruz, Christopher Eugene Johnson, Tatiana Cruz, Ne'vaeh Ragland, Joshua J. Cruz Jr., Christian Johnson, Jocelynn Cruz, Auset & Aja Ross, Lamar Jr. & La'myracle Knight.
Also survived by siblings: Alonzo (Sharry) Borum, Velda Ragland, Richard (Nancy) Ragland, Anthony Ragland, Eugene Ragland Jr., Selina Ragland, Serina (Alexei) Tetinov, Tawnya (Delroy) Anderson, Regina Morrow, Sheila (Eric) Washington, and Veronica (Bradford) Bodine; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family, as well as a myriad of friends & loved ones. Not to be overlooked are those in the medical community, including his dialysis nurses & doctors who provided outstanding care throughout every step of his renal journey.
With his infectious smile, the proclaimed Cheesecake Extraordinaire, also known as "Bamm", touched many through his meals, stories, and laughs. Eugene was a dedicated provider and always put himself after the needs of the ones he loved. He aimed to put a smile on the faces of everyone he met. From busting a move in the skating rink, to hooking up kitchen masterpieces, from dancing on the cruise lido deck, to giving his grands way more candy than they should have; there was nothing he loved more than a house full of people, all with full bellies, and every child (related or not) adopting his moniker "Buddy". And no one can ever say "Buddy" didn't live a full and happy life, surrounded by love each and every day. Eugene's spirit will live on in every memory, every photo, and every boiling pot on the stove.
Although our hearts are longing for his presence, we look forward to the day we may laugh together again and finally learn the secrets to his infamous magic tricks."
