ROCHESTER- Eva L. Barnes, 89, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
Eva was born in Plantersville, AL, on January 14, 1931, to the late Lasker and Wilda Harville.
After Mother Barnes graduated from high school, in 1947, in Plantersville, AL, she united in holy matrimony with Percy Lee White. Lois became a young widow at the age of 27 after her husband passed away in October 1958. She was determined to rear her offspring with the help of God Almighty, living on the Bob-O-Link Farm in Wolcott, NY. She labored in working as a domestic housekeeper, a migrant worker, a 'line worker' at Xerox Corp., Cahoon Apple Farms, Duffy Motts and Comstock Canning Plant, and a weekend waitress at a migrant camp that her brother-in-law oversaw as a contractor for many years along with many other jobs to take care of her children.
Eva Barnes was a faithful member at New Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Westbury, NY, Mt. Avery Baptist Church and Higher Heights Church of God (Goodman Street Church of God) in Rochester, NY. She was a "prayer warrior" who had great faith as she declared many, many times. She fought a good fight and kept the faith until the end.
She is survived by her nine children, Percy White Jr., Phillip White, Linda White, Diane Williams, Patrick White, Sharon White, Pamelette Releford, Johnetta Barnes, and Delesha Barnes.
Calling hours will be held at Restoration Church of God, 595 Frost Ave, Rochester, NY 14611, on Saturday, August 29, 2020 from 10:00am-11:00am, with a service to immediately follow. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Rochester, NY.
