GREECE- Eva Mastrella, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2020 surrounded by the love of her family.
Eva was born in Dresden, Germany on August 13, 1930 to the late Albert and Helene Sperling. In 1947 she moved to Rochester, NY and in 1948 she became a WWII War Bride to Rocco Mastrella. They were married until his passing in 2001, and together they raised three children. Eva worked as a timekeeper for the maintenance department at Eastman Kodak's Elmgrove Plant for many years. After her retirement, she traveled to many beautiful places and loved wintering in Vancouver, BC., where she made many new friends. She enjoyed exercising at the YMCA and making her daily run to Wegmans where all the employees knew her. She loved meeting new people and sharing many stories of her life with them. She was strong in her faith, and praying was part of her daily routine. She was an active member of the Greece United Methodist Church, and was fond of her church family and pastor.
Eva was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She loved her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Rocco.
She is survived by her children, Gerard (Dana) Mastrella, John (Gail) Mastrella, and Debra (Hugh) Hanratta, her cousin, Jutta, her grandchildren, David (Christina), Anthony (Abby), Michael (Kate), Arica (Chris), Angie (Ed), Rachael (Gus), and Amanda, and her 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
