Francis J. Glassic "Frank"
August 4, 2005 at age 80. Died after a short illness at Rochester General Hospital,surrounded by his loving children. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Lois. Survived by daughter, Francine Glassic and sons Michael Glassic and Stephen Glassic; also by sister-in-law, Jane Mateer, and several nieces and nephews, all of Rochester. Also survived by brother-in-law, Carl Lederman of Orange Park,Fl. and by cousin, John Kwiatkowski of Shamokin, Pa. who was like a brother to him. Born in Shamokin,Pa. on September 13, 1924, he was the only child of Frank L. and Mary Adamowicz Glassic. On May 29, 1948 he was united in marriage at St. Ambrose Church to Lois Lederman of Rochester, daughter of Carl H. and Otillia Hept Lederman. Frank served in the U.S. Navy in WWII as a radioman 2c, 1942-1946. In 1943 he volunteered for hazardous duty as part of Naval Group China, which later became known as SACO. The Sino American Cooperative Organization was so secret, its existence was unknown until after the war, even to the rest of the military they were providing intelligence to. He worked for Rochester Telephone Corp. for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a line-tester, guiding the repair work of the outside workers. A loyal member of CWA Local 1170,he will be missed by many friends there, while now joining others. He and his wife were members of Colonial Estates in Boynton Beach, Fl., spending many pleasant winters there, and leaving behind many friends. He was a modest man, and conducted his life with both family and friends with dignity, duty , and honor. He was an anchor to his children. His loss is grieved by all. Calling hours will be held Monday Aug. 8th, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. Family and friends are asked to go directly to St. James Church, 109 Brockley Rd. on Tues. 10:30AM for his Funeral Mass, with entombement immediately following at White Haven Memorial Park, Pittsford. Donations may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans, or American Cancer Society.
